Terms of Reference
  • 1To identify and promote the use of common communications sector indicators and data collection methods across member states, to improve the comparability and consistency of communications sector statistics.
  • 2To support capacity building efforts in member states related to the collection and analysis of communications sector statistics.
  • 3To produce reports and publications on communications sector statistics and trends in the region, including through the development of a common communications sector statistical framework and data dissemination platform.
  • 4To collaborate with other regional and international organizations working on communication statistics, in order to share best practices, coordinate activities, and leverage resources.
  • 5To provide technical advice and support to member states and other stakeholders on issues related to communications sector statistics, including the use of these statistics for evidence- based policy and decision-making. WG02: ICT Infrastructure Development, Connectivity, Sharing and Digital Inclusion.

  • 1To analyze the level of e-waste in the region and its impact on humans and the environment.
  • 2To harmonize policies, strategies and regulations on e-waste management in the region.
  • 3To recommend adoption of green ICT best practices by stakeholders in the communications sector.
  • 4To recommend national and regional environmentally sound e- waste management systems for the EAC region.
  • 5To develop strategies for public awareness on issues relating to e-waste.
  • 6To recommend strategies for collaboration/cooperation between National ICT Regulators, National Environmental Management Authorities and other environmental management Agencies with a view to establishing and strengthening the e- waste management systems within the region.
